Hot Pot
The Chinese name for hot pot, Huo Guo/火锅, literally means “fire pot”. It's a communal meal that involves a pot filled with broth constantly simmered by a heat source underneath, a variety of food items around the pot that are cooked in the broth by every diner and then dipped in sauces for extra flavour
You should write a book.
In April, I was stuck in Shanghai during their city-wide lockdown. In May, I got to Shenzhen and finally finished quarantine. In June, my cats arrived in China.
Let’s talk about noodles.
The broth is tomatoey with a meat essence. There was a small selection of vegetables, fried egg, and chives. The spice level was mild for me (possibly medium for those with a low spice tolerance) and overall it was a satisfying dish.
Why I became an Expat
I needed a change. Not just a change your hair or get a new tattoo, but something drastic.
