About me
My name is Corene (sounds like Coreene). I’m an American expat currently living in Shenzhen, China. I have travelled to over 30 countries and have lived in 3 besides the US. One thing that is constant in every place I have traveled is that a smile goes a long way.
I started this site to document the adventures of expat living;
My experiences, surprises, challenges, and daily life as an expat, along with Stella and Stuart, my two Ukraine born, creamsicle feline companions and co-adventurers.
A smile goes a long way, is my life mantra and behind my stories there is a laugh and a smile. Even through the tough stories, and the sad stories, there is always a little smile and some positivity.
Being an expat has provided me with a life that was not possible when I lived in the states. I have experienced many different cultures, food, and adventures I never thought were possible.
This blog will be a collection of my stories of living overseas.
I have been told many times I should write a book. Well, consider this my book.
About the Cats
Stuart and Stella were adopted from a shelter in Kyiv, Ukraine. I knew once I moved to Ukraine from Timor-Leste that I needed to have an animal back in my life.
Stuart was all alone in the shelter and Stella was with her litter. She was the most scared looking one and I knew I wanted her.
They were put in a soft travel bag together and have been bonded ever since. They are my buds and have now traveled to China with me, too. Their adventures are ones that will be told in my stories 🐾
Stella
Aka Sweet Stella, Mama, Stell, Cuddle Bear. She is my bright star in the dark nights and is the best comforter around.
She mothers me as well as Stuart and never holds a grudge. Stella loves scratches on the top of her tail and belly rubs until her teeth let you know she has had enough. She is my buddy in the kitchen and always has my back when I work out at home…
Stuart
Aka Mr. Fluffnugget, Stu, Princess, Best Friend, Buddy, and Forest Prince.
He is the definition of fluffy and is a quintessential fat boi.
His favorite part of the day is meal time and he is an expert at taking naps wherever he lands. He is stubborn and soft and will just flop in your arms.
He is my fearless cat who spent 18 days in a Slovakian forest. .
