Travel Essentials
From cleaning off toilet seats to cleaning my hands to getting a full body refresher -obviously not with the same wipe!
1, Baby wipes are hands down the most versatile item.
With travel comes different toilet expectations and experiences. In Asia and Eastern Europe, many public toilets are squat style and there may or may not be available toilet paper in the stall. You may have walked right by the communal toilet paper roll, or the roll is empty, or there is nothing.
2, Water bottle. My go-to saying is "hydrate or de-drate". Water is my first choice, with coffee right behind it. You never know what the water options are and with covid, the water fountains in many airports were closed. The downside to this is when you arrive to airport with a full water bottle and have to chug it down before security and then be without water and no water fountain. Even with this no water fountain because of covid, my water bottle is always with me.
3, My phone. Wallet, check, passport, check, phone, check. Most times I am holding on to my phone while searching for my phone. I haven't named my phone, but perhaps I should as it has become such an integral part of my everyday life.
4, Masks. Covid is still a daily battle in China and you just never know when regulations will change or who will ask you to put a mask on. So, I just always will have a mask in my bag for what seems like it will be forever.
5, Battery charger. My phone is my document storage, emergency contacts, entertainment, and essentially an external attachment to my body.
6, Pen. Always need a pen. On the plane and they hand out the entrance slip and you don't have a pen? It took quite a few trips before I realized that a pen was necessary. No more staring at your neighbor on the flight while they write down all of their information while you are sitting there holding the paper like it's a failed test returned back to you.
7, Deodorant. This is for the long hauls and the many legs of a trip. I have been Subject to many smells of various body odors to know that I would not want to help someone add to their nasal collection of nasty neighbors.
8, Snacks. I love food. I am one to hardly turn down food. You never know when the hunger pains will hit on a plane, so have your snacks.
Not the McDonald's meal kind of snack that will make the entire section of the plane smell like delicious hot fries and leave everyone's mouth watering for their own.
I'm talking convenience store snacks like Pringles, because they won't get smashed in your bag or dried fruit because your jaw needs a work out or nuts. unless the plane is a nut free plane then throw those away because I'm not about to cause severe injury or possibly death to a stranger.
